Sacred Heart Church, Monkstown, was the venue for a well attended public meeting to discuss the Port of Cork (PoC) company’s planning application for development of a container terminal in Ringaskiddy.
The proposed terminal will take all the container traffic from Tivioli and the PoC hopes to attract a lot more traffic in the coming years. Residents associations and the environmental groups fear noise and light pollution could be serious side affects of this new development as well as problems arising from large volumes of road traffic feeding the development.
www.oysterbankplanning.ie contains details of the proposed development. The closing date for submissions An Bord Pleanála is the 28th January.
